In the early hours of July 31, the rising sun illuminated the expansive 4,200-mu (280 hectares) photovoltaic project in Ninghai county, Ningbo, creating a truly breathtaking sight.
This project, spread across vast fish ponds, establishes a harmonious relationship between underwater aquaculture and electricity generation.
With a total installed capacity of 99 megawatts, the project is poised to produce approximately 100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. This output will result in savings equivalent to 30,000 metric tons of standard coal annually, while also cutting carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions by an estimated 80,000 tons.
Beyond energy generation, the project is diversifying local revenue streams by injecting new vitality to fisheries farming, tourism, and other sectors in the region. It is anticipated to generate an output value exceeding 3 billion yuan ($414.15 million) over the next 25 years.
