Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum

The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum is a provincial comprehensive history museum. Its construction began in 1959 and was completed in 1973. The museum is located within an area of 22,400 square meters in the inner Chengtian Temple in Yinchuan city. In November 2006, building of its new museum structure at Beijing Zhong Road of Yinchuan began in an area of 30,258 square meters. In September 2008, the new building of Ningxia Museum was completed and opened to the public. 

Ningxia Museum collects and exhibits historical, revolutionary, and precious public relics that systematically reflect the history of Ningxia from primitive society to the Ming and Qing dynasties and showcase the unique culture charm of the Western Xia regime. It displays the most distinctive culture in China's largest Hui ethnic group residence area.

To promote international cultural exchanges and publicize China's splendid ancient culture, the Ningxia Museum together with the Guyuan Museum and cultural relic management institutions of many counties of Ningxia held well-received exhibitions twice in Japan.

Since its establishment, the Ningxia Museum has held a number of exhibitions including an Exhibition of Cultural Relics Unearthed in Ningxia, a Ningxia Cultural Relics Survey Achievements Exhibition, a Ningxia Historical and Cultural Relics Exhibition and so on, building a comprehensive display system with Ningxia local characteristics.
