The Fourth Ningxia Helan Mountain's East Foothills International Wine Competition and the Second "Marselan" Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles commenced in Yinchuan in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region on Aug 6.

This prestigious event is organized by the committee of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and features a wide array of products, including traditional wines, fortified wines and grape distillates (brandy), as well as grape liqueurs and pre-mixed grape beverages, encompassing nearly all grape-derived wine types.

The entries are evaluated based on four price categories – table wine, regional table wine, high-quality wine and reserve wine – according to the retail prices provided by the participating enterprises. This ensures that the results of the competition offer precise purchasing guidance for consumers.

By the end of the sample collection period, the competition had received 1,222 entries from 33 wine regions in 18 countries. This marks the highest number of entries ever received for a wine competition in Ningxia and a 14.5-percent increase compared to 2023.

Tonny Tong, an international judge for the event, noted that international competitions bring together winemaking techniques and wine varieties from around the world, facilitating a cultural exchange with the wine culture of Ningxia.
