Nineteen prominent artists from across the country, along with local Ningxia artists, gathered in Guyuan, Ningxia, for a plein air painting event on Aug 31.
Their artistic journey began at the Xumishan Grottoes, a site built during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) and one of China's top 10 grottoes. They also visited the Jinji Terraced Fields in Pengyang county, renowned as China's most beautiful dryland terraces.

The artists plan to continue their journey and visit other significant sites, such as Liupan Mountain, where they will depict Guyuan's development and transformation from multiple angles.
"Guyuan's blue skies, green lands, clear waters, and rich culture provide endless inspiration and motivation for artists," said Wang Hui, director of the Beijing Academy of China Xieyi Oil Painting.
