Ningxia has in recent years made significant efforts to ensure its goji berries are of the highest possible quality.

To this end, it established the National Goji Berry Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center (Ningxia), which began operations in April 2024 and has received national CMA accreditation for 876 testing parameters related to goji berries and goji berry products, with some parameters also recognized by CNAS.

Over the past three years, 5,000 batches of goji berries in the Ningxia market have been inspected, with the testing parameters primarily including safety indicators such as sulfur dioxide, pesticide residues, heavy metals, pathogenic bacteria, and food additives, as well as physicochemical indicators like polysaccharides and soluble solids, according to Ma Ling, deputy director of the center.

Ningxia has also formulated 136 goji berry standards, accounting for 61 percent of the national total. This effort has gradually led to the establishment of a high-quality development standard system that covers the entire goji berry industrial chain.

In addition, Ningxia has implemented a comprehensive green pest control system for goji berries across the region. This system includes a grid-based monitoring network, a reporting team of 139 members, and 1,286 monitoring sample points.

Ningxia plans to enhance its regulatory capacity, improve regulatory standards, and establish a robust inter-departmental coordination mechanism.
