On Oct 25, Ningxia and Kazakhstan's Almaty Region advanced their economic and trade collaboration during the 11th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum in Yinchuan, Ningxia.
Zhang Yupu, governor of Ningxia, warmly welcomed the delegation led by Marat Sultangaziev, governor of Almaty Region. He emphasized Kazakhstan's strategic role as a key node in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and highlighted the steady growth in trade between Ningxia and Kazakhstan in recent years.
Zhang expressed optimism about the potential for broad cooperation, particularly in trade logistics, specialty agriculture, and clean energy, and emphasized the desire to deepen practical collaboration with the Almaty Region across various fields.

Sultangaziev reaffirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to maintaining a strong and friendly strategic partnership with China. He expressed a willingness to enhance collaboration with Ningxia in sectors such as energy, construction, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and cultural exchanges, aiming for mutually beneficial outcomes.
During the forum, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an international friendly relationship between Ningxia and Almaty Region.
"This is our first visit to Ningxia, although Almaty has collaborated with many Chinese provinces in economic and cultural fields," Sultangaziev noted. "We have many similarities in natural environment and economic structure, both being agriculture-based regions, which I believe offers us vast potential for cooperation."
