Nearly 14 tons of fresh eggs from Guyuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, arrived in Hong Kong after a 72-hour trip in refrigeration. It was the first delivery of eggs from Ningxia to the city.

The eggs, produced by Phoenix Eco-Agriculture, go directly from the hens that lay them via automated conveyors to the processing plant. After sorting, disinfecting, crack testing, weighing and labeling, they are packed and prepared for shipment within five hours to ensure optimal freshness.

Phoenix's "Golden Swan" brand eggs are crafted to meet international standards, with a high lutein content — more than 1,680 micrograms per 100 grams, significantly higher than average — a feature that sets them apart in the market.

The first shipment's success relied on support from local customs officials, who provided "invaluable guidance", said Ma Wenqin, Phoenix's foreign trade manager. "They guided us through the export application process, ensuring efficiency and quality with regular checks."

The customs effort is part of a broader initiative by Zhongwei Customs to promote Ningxia's agricultural exports. By overseeing every stage of production and conducting expedited clearances, the authorities aim to bring Ningxia's specialty products to international markets fast and with quality intact.
