Ordos has become one of the most popular tourist destinations this summer. People from all over the country are pouring into Dongsheng district and Kangbashi district to enjoy the 21 degree heat.

Between January and May 2017, 4.74 million tourists visited the city, up 20 percent year-on-year, and total tourism revenue reached 13.58 billion yuan (2 billion dollars), up 20.8 percent year on year.

At present, the whole city is coordinating tourism development. The income effect of the "business to tourism" project is obvious. In 2016, the city received 104.02 million visitors. With a year-on-year growth of 22.7 percent, tourism revenue reached 313.9 billion yuan (4.61 billion dollars).

Since 2015, Ordos has been included in the national tourism reform and innovation initiative region, and has been a demonstration zone for all-for-one tourism. Faced with a favorable policy environment and great development opportunities, the municipal party committee and the municipal government attach great importance to the development of the all-for-one tourism concept, and take it as the strategic pillar industry of the city’s economy.

A series of special plans for the development of tourism industries like The Outline of the 13th Five-year Plan of the Tourism Industry in Ordos, Three Years of Improvement in the Yellow River and the Wuding River Basin has been issued, adhering to the concept of "multi-regulation and integration" and promoting the further effective linking of tourism and land use, urban construction, transportation roads, environmental protection, and urban and rural public service systems.
