The show, called The Ordos Wedding, is popular among local residents and has been learned by many professional and amateur art groups. The Ordos cultural bureau organized a performance competition in 2002 to help to improve the show.

In the end, The Ordos Wedding became a brand show of the city. Local art teams have continued to perform the show over the past decade. Ulan Muqir in Ejin Horo Banner has staged more than 100 performances of the show annually.

Mongolian costume is another feature of Ordos culture. Mongolian robes, a common type of clothing for the ethnic group, are usually loose to protect the knees. Laces are used in the neckline, cuff and border of the robes. Most robes for men are blue and brown, while those for women are mainly green and purple.

Waistcoats are a favorite costume among Mongolian adult men and married women. In Ordos, Mongolian women’s long waistcoats have a lower hem slit right to left and their coats shrink around the waist to showcase their figures. The main colors for such coats are red, blue and green.

Short waistcoats for women are mostly brocade and embroidered with flowers, animal patterns or folk designs.

The Mongolian ethnic group is also famed for its horse culture, historically involving battles, social life, worship ceremonies, literature and art.
