China has actively promoted international cooperation in desertification control and carried out more than 90 related bilateral cooperation projects. Prevention and control of desertification provides ecological security for the interconnections along the Belt and Road.

The opening ceremony of 13th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNCCD was held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 6 as part of that cooperation and purpose.

All that day, not only did the high-level conference gain people's attention, but the service and food offered by Ordos also proved attractive.

At an exhibition mounted for the conference, "Building A Green Ecological  Great Wall -- China's Achievements in Combating Desertification", Kouakou Jean, a representative from Cote d'Ivoire, swirled a glass of red wine from Ordos and said, "It’s very good!"

In separate sections of the exhibition, it turns out that the representatives of the conference are not only concerned about China's achievements in combating desertification, but are also curious about Chinese food and drinks arising from the sandy land.

In addition to the red wine, sandy soil products such as sea-buckthorn juice and cyperus beans also pleased the representatives.

The representatives tasted the foods and beverages from a sandy land and inquired in detail about their cultivation techniques and production processes.

Representatives noted not only the food, but also the services supplied. On Sept 6, the Lost and Found Office of the conference opened for retrieval of items lost or picked up during the meeting.
