A full-time security office was established at the beginning of 2017. The office is in charge of the formulation of all security plans, drawing maps of security checkpoints, and regular coordination and communication.

The police get special training for the security work of COP13.

Despite the hot weather, the trainees broadened their practical knowledge to better serve the conference. The training covered a large range of issues, from police public relations, police and international etiquette, collection and disposal of public security information, practical combat skills and physical training, basic laws and regulations about security work, police English in common use, and emergency procedures to world religious knowledge and the disposal of foreign-related cases.

A police dog security team has allocated specific tasks to each group and carried out a thorough explosive detection security check in and around the conference hotels. Certain locations will be rechecked by different teams to ensure the safety of the participants.

So far, 280 policemen and 260 police dogs have been deployed. The security team has checked more than 1,400 rooms, 28 vehicles and an outdoor area of 46,000 square meters and confiscated 954 flammable and explosive materials, 68 knives and 125 toxic and hazardous materials.

In 2017, the security team organized a series of special actions to crack down on crimes and enhance the public security environment, which helped create a harmonious and stable environment for the 19th CPC National Congress, the 70th anniversary of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and COP13.

The public security bureau of Ejin Horo Banner collaborated with the armed police and established eleven security checkpoints to build a solid security defense for COP13.
