With the onset of winter, a 389-kilometer stretch of the Yellow River in Ordos had frozen over by Dec 11, according to the flood control and drought relief headquarters of the Yellow River in Ordos.

The Ordos-section of the Yellow River started to freeze on Dec 4, 11 days later than last year, and ice began to flow down the river on Nov 18, three days earlier than previous years.

During periods of freezing or melting, the city’s flood control and drought relief department usually takes action to monitor the state of the ice for public safety.
