The Dongsheng Sports Center Main Stadium located in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, secured the Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize at a June 3 conference to honor outstanding buildings.

Along with 29 other architectural projects, including Shanghai Disney World and Shanghai Tower, the large stadium in Ordos stood out among the 139 applications.

In recognition of the breakthroughs these constructions have made in the use of modern technology, concepts of design and environmental protection, the designers of these projects won the award, which is named after Tien-yow Jeme, a nationally famous architect born in the 1980s.

The stadium, which covers 100,000 square meters, is a comprehensive sports center designed for commercial and civil use. Featuring an exquisite design, the construction has already become one of the landmarks in the city.

The Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize is one of the most important awards in the field of architecture. Approved by the National Technological Authority, the award was set up by the China Civil Engineering Society and Beijing Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Foundation in 1991.
