Engebei Tourist Area is a world-famous ecological demonstration site in the middle of the Kubuqi Desert in Dalad Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The Mongolian word engebei means “safety and auspiciousness”.

The area, once deserted, is now a 20,000-hectare national tourist site. Every year, many visitors from home and abroad visit it to plant trees, gradually pushing the number of trees within the area past 1 million.

With five functional sections and over 20 tourist spots, the internationally recognized tourist resort combines desert travel, aquatic entertainment and scientific research.

A river winding 3.5 km to meet the desert hinterland provides tourists with the opportunity to sightsee from a yacht.

The Engebei Tourist Area was designated a 4A-level scenic site in 2005.

Located in Uxin Banner, Ordos, the Salawusu Tourism Area consists of two parts – the Salawusu Civilization site (known as the Ordos Man site) and the Batuwan scenic area.

The Salawusu Civilization natural geological museum sits on the location of the discovery of human remains from the Palaeolithic Age, which dates from 2.5 million years ago to 9,600 BC. The site is also home to the largest desert valley in Asia.

Batuwan scenic area features a 230-sq-km reservoir, which boasts one of the world’s purest water supplies, the reservoir mostly being sourced from a desert spring.

Salawusu Tourist Area was listed as a national 4A-grade scenic spot in 2013.
