The three-day 2018 Inner Mongolia International Energy Conference concluded in Ordos, on Aug 12.

Ai Lihua and Zhang Shaochun, both of them being vice-chairmen of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Government, attended the closing ceremony of the conference, with the latter one delivering a speech on behalf of the regional government.

On behalf of the foreign representatives attending the conference, Ahcène Boukhelfa, Algerian ambassador to China, also spoke at the conference.

Speakers at the conference also included Ge Jian, president of the council of the Inner Mongolia Grasslands Cultural Protection and Development Foundation.

Inner Mongolia Agreement, a consensus reached at the conference was announced at the conference.

Nearly 300 representatives including Nobel Prize winners, academicians and scholars from 23 countries, ambassadors and envoys to China from 10 countries, entrepreneurs and assorted officials from government.

Revolving around the theme “Exploring the path of energy development in the new era”, attendees held discussions and proposed feasible solutions to the energy development in Inner Mongolia.

Inner Mongolia is rich in energy resources. The storage of coal and wind energy resources ranks first place across the country, and the storage of solar energy ranks second place in the country. Moreover, Inner Mongolia also boasts a large storage of petroleum, natural gas resources and geothermal resources.

As a fundamental energy base, Inner Mongolia has established a comprehensive new energy industry in fields of wind, solar energy and electricity, playing a leading role in China’s energy industry. Its development pattern in energy deserves to be taken as an example, according to the experts in attendance at the conference.

Robert Betts Laughlin, a Nobel Prize winner in physics, praised the efforts that had been made by the regional government and people in the region in developing local energy industry, saying that they had done well enough. He encouraged the local government and people to make even more efforts to develop energy industry.

George Fitzgerald Smoot III, a Nobel Prize winner in Physics, suggested establishing a green smart power web to connect different regions and energy resources.

Zhang Jie, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), proposed that we could develop the energy storage capacity to better facilitate the deployment of electricity.

Xue Huifeng, dean of the China Aerospace Academy of Systems Science and Engineering, proposed an idea to put the solar energy station in outer space, and Gong Mingzhu, director of the Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission, said that the conference served as a platform pooling the wisdom of all to support our industrial development.

Inner Mongolia Agreement

The Inner Mongolia International Energy Conference was held in Ordos City, from Aug 10 to 12, with the theme of “Exploring the path of energy development in the new era”. The event saw Nearly 300 representatives including Nobel Prize winners, academicians and scholars from 23 countries, ambassadors and envoys to China from 10 countries, entrepreneurs and assorted officials from government gather at the conference. The following agreement is what we had achieved at the conference:

We have come to an agreement that we are in face of unprecedented challenges and profound reforms in the world’s energy development. In a period of time to come, fossil energy resources will still be the principal part of the energy supply. Structural diversity is the unavoidable choice to the path of sustainable energy development.

We will make unremitting efforts to improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency of fossil energy, reduce the consumption and decrease the emission while striving to develop the wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy and civil-used nuclear energy. In this way, we hope to make low-carbon and new energy that is affordable, reliable and sustainable accessible to everyone.

We have come to an agreement that technological innovation is the fundamental driving force to press ahead with the energy revolution. We will eye on the frontiers of the world’s energy development and speed up the technological innovation and application of the new energy, new materials, energy storage and smart electricity web.

We have come to an agreement that protecting our beautiful home lands is our shared responsibility. We advocate that the whole society should save the energy consumption, promote the green consumption and deal with the relations between the economic growth and environmental preservation. In this way, we hope to leave green hills, clear waters and shiny stars to our future generations.

We have come to an agreement that enhancing exchanges and cooperation is an important method to promote the sustainable development of energy resources. We will enhance the closer ties between the regions enterprises, scientific institutions and social organizations. We call for sharing technology and expanding technical cooperation to promote global energy industrial transformation.

We have come to an agreement that Inner Mongolia, as China’s important energy base, has a solid foundation in transforming the traditional energy and utilizing the new energy. We appreciate and support the efforts Inner Mongolia is making to keep pace with the tendency of the technical revolution in the world energy’s development, as well as the efforts in building a modern energy economics system in the region.

Let’s work together to transform the vision to energy development into our practical action, and promote the energy consumption revolution, supply revolution, technological revolution and system revolution, so as to make our share of contribution to safeguarding the world energy safety and handling the global climate changes.
