The top 10 cities, according to the rankings of the list, are Shengzhen, Shanghai, Dongguan, Suzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Ningbo and Tianjin.

The list was decided by the National General Administration of Customs based on five major indicators, namely, “standard competitiveness”, “structure competitiveness”, “efficiency competitiveness”, “development competitiveness” and “growth competitiveness”.

To be more specific, 25 sub-indicators play as parameters for the entry into the list.

Besides the assessment of the total volume of foreign trade and the speed of the growth, the evaluation system cares more about the quality and potential of foreign trade development in a city.
