The city of Ordos in Inner Mongolia autonomous region scooped eight Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Awards for its scientific achievements, according to a list released by the regional authority, on March 1. 

The awards were all related to the mineral and energy industry, with three firms from Ordos sharing second prize following research efforts completed in partnership with universities or other companies. 

The other five achievements were honored with third prize. 

Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Award is the top-level award in the region, and is annually awarded to organizations, institutions or companies in Inner Mongolia to honor their significant scientific achievements.
