In the first three quarters of the year production by large industrial enterprises in Ordos -- the city in northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- maintained a stable and promising trend, according to local media reports.

Local officials said that as the benefits of Ordos's business policies gradually expanded, the local business environment continued to improve, industrial production increased steadily, operating profit continued to grow and the foundation for high-quality industrial development continued to be solid.

In the first nine months, Ordos's large industrial enterprises -- industrial enterprises above a designated size -- posted operating income of 296.57 billion yuan ($42.32 billion), a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent.

Among the 22 large non-coal industrial enterprises, the revenues of 15 industries increased year-on-year, officials said. Their accumulated operating income was 130.27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent.

The number of large private industrial enterprises reached 335, an increase of 15 and of two on the first quarter and the first half year, respectively.

They accounted for 78.6 percent of the total number of large industrial enterprises in Ordos, and the operating income of these private enterprises reached 177.41 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8 percent over the same period last year.
