Kangbashi district launches 5G smart city construction

A signing ceremony for the construction of a 5G smart city in Kangbashi district in Ordos, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, took place on Nov 12, according to local officials.
At the ceremony, the people's government of Kangbashi district signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement with Tencent, Huawei and China Unicom on establishing a 5G smart city.
They also signed contracts with Huawei and China Mobile on a strategic cooperation agreement for the digital transformation of Ordos.
The signing of the agreement signals that Kangbashi district will launch the construction of the high-tech.
District officials will conduct in-depth and extensive meetings with leading enterprises in the fields of smart government affairs, smart tourism, the smart life, smart governance, driverless cars with advanced informatization and intelligent technologies.
According to local officials, the development of a 5G smart city is expected to add new impetus to the high-quality development of the local economy, provide new models for urban governance and further enhance people's living standards.
Li Pin, general manager of the Ordos branch of China Unicom, said that as a next step, all sides would utilize advanced IT technologies to jointly promote the construction of smart city in Kangbashi district.
