A special, dedicated channel for cars equipped electronic toll-collection -- or ETC -- devices went into service at Ordos airport's parking lot in Ordos, a city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Dec 29, airport officials said.

It marked the success debut of the autonomous region's first ETC extended applications project.

According to local media reports, thanks to the special ETC channel, all vehicles equipped with electronic devices can automatically pay the parking fee when entering and leaving the parking lot of Ordos airport.

Compared with the payment method in conventional parking lots, ETC vehicles take far less time to get in and out, with the fastest taking only three seconds.

Officials said that in recent years, with the increasing number of flights and passenger flows at Ordos airport, the number of vehicles in the parking lot has been increasing substantially.

In order to provide more intelligent, safer and convenient parking services for passengers, officials at Ordos airport said they were continually upgrading services.

Building an intelligent parking lot and providing more intelligent parking services for passengers would undoubtedly create a better travel experience, officials said.
