Both Dalu Industrial Park and Dalad Economic Development Zone in Ordos, a major city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, were recently recognized and awarded the title of "national demonstration areas for industrial transformation and upgrading".

The honors were conferred at the third communications conference for construction of national industrial transformation and upgrading demonstration zone, held in Zibo in eastern China's Shandong province on Jan 9-10.

At the conference, a notice on further developing the industrial transformation and upgrading of demonstration zones -- published by five national departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission -- was underscored.

This was while a ceremony was held, awarding plaques to those demonstration zones and parks recognized for their industrial transformation and upgrading.

According to the contents of the notice, national departments will arrange funding within the central budget to support their development.

The central budget will give 20 percent in subsidies towards investment for the construction of key public infrastructure and enterprise innovation capacity projects in the demonstration parks.

Dalu Industrial Park, which is located in Ordos' Juungar Banner, was founded in 2005 and has a planned construction area of 140 square kilometers.

The area mainly focuses on the development of coal-to-oil, coal-to-methanol, coal-to-olefin, dimethyl ether, glycol and other coal chemicals, -- as well as downstream fine chemical products, the high-end chemical industry and the comprehensive utilization of high-aluminum fly ash resources.

Meanwhile, its officials plan to build a comprehensive accommodation services area.

The planned land area of the Dalad Economic Development Zone is 88.26 sq km. Its main industry includes coal, electricity, aluminum, the chemicals industry -- focusing on the chemical coal sector, chlor alkali chemical industry and biochemical industry.

Other pillar industries include building materials, focusing on ceramic, cement, PVC profiles. Still other sectors include high and new technology -- focusing on sapphires, a silicon carbide crystal material series, polyphenylene sulfides and other polymer materials -- as well as the modern logistics industry.
