Ordos offers plenty of Spring Festival fun activities

To celebrate the New Year and the upcoming Spring Festival, Ordos – a city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has launched 171 activities in six categories to create fun times for the locals which run until Feb 2, according to local media reports.

The city has launched a series of performances being staged by the Ulan Muqir art troupe programs and arranged a ballet performance by Russian dance troupe.

The city has also created winter ice and snow themed tourism routes and more than 40 activities designed to wow visitors, including night skiing. At the same time, winter fishing activities and tourism festivals are being held all over the city.

Ordos is also holding various arts and crafts activities and themed exhibitions.

At the same time, Ordos has launched a number of local policies to benefit the locals. Through performances in various communities, residents are being provided with free coaching and training in dance, singing, instrumental music and traditional drama.

There’s also a series of reading events and activities to appeal to the locals, being held during the festival period. All the cultural and exhibition venues and all the banners and counties of the city have organized reading classes, exhibitions and performances to enrich the break for residents.

Furthermore, in a bid to create a festive atmosphere, the city is encouraging rural Spring Festival galas, temple fairs, lantern shows, flower fairs, song and dance fairs, dragon and lion dances and other cultural activities be held in various banners and districts.

According to local media reports, all the districts of Ordos will hold folk cultural activities such as fire sacrifices, lantern festival, stilt walking and other cultural and tourism activities that feature combination with local characteristics.
