The market for daily necessities in Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has sufficient supplies to meet the needs of locals, during the current serious times created by the  coronavirus (2019-nCoV), according to officials from the Ordos bureau of commerce on Jan 30.

Officials said that on the whole, Ordos had an abundance and variety of day-to-day goods.

The city has 1,500 tons of commercial grain reserves (excluding government reserves), 380 tons of edible oil, 600 tons of pork, 350 tons of beef and mutton, 50 tons of chicken and other meat, 600 tons of vegetables, 1,662,000 bottles of bottled drinking water, 173 tons of eggs and 500 tons of fruit.

Major supply companies said it was business as usual, while farmer's markets were continuing as normal and supermarkets were fully meeting customers' needs, officials added.

In addition, the city has sufficient and good quality grain and oil reserves, pork reserves and other government reserves.

Since the outbreak of the 22019-nCoV, the Ordos bureau of commerce has issued a number of notices to ensure the supply of daily necessities during the Spring Festival.

At the same time, a market operations monitoring and abnormal price fluctuations reporting mechanism for daily necessities has been launched.

Officials said that through a unified business platform, prices have been monitored, any unusual market price fluctuations and market supply conditions were identified in time -- and early warnings about price fluctuations have been issued.

Officials said the bureau of commerce has also comprehensively investigated the inventories of the emergency reserves of companies in the city and learned about the daily position for reserves of daily necessities.

In addition, key commercial and trade supply companies have been organized to strengthen their production and marketing -- and goods were bought in advance to meet the daily consumption needs of residents.
