Ordos Red Cross receives 33.83 million yuan in donations

The Red Cross of Ordos, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been playing a key role in helping out with the fight against the deadly coronavirus there according to local officials.

They said that as of 17:00 on Jan 30, the Red Cross had received more than 33.83 million yuan ($4.87 million) in donations from a number of companies and residents.

In addition, businesses and other people who also want to donate are getting in contact with the Red Cross.

Officials said that as of 10:00 on Jan 31, Inner Mongolia autonomous region has reported 20 confirmed cases and one suspected case of the coronavirus.

Of these, three cases are in Ordos with one in Dongsheng district, one in Otog Front Banner and one in Dalad Banner.

In view of the current severe situation, Red Cross officials said that the donations received would be uniformly allocated and used by the prevention and control headquarters of the new coronavirus in Ordos.
