Aiming to prevent used face masks from becoming sources of secondary pollution, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has installed over 3,500 dustbins at airports, stations, shopping malls and other key areas in every city and league, according to a Feb 1 report by news agency Xinhua.

On top of setting up the rubbish bins, the autonomous region has also established more than 1,920 wasted face masks collection points and dispatched special vehicles to collect and transport the hazardous waste.

Meanwhile, Inner Mongolia has taken time to distribute 133,462 masks, 52,192 sets of gloves, 199 sets of protective clothing, over 1,300 bottles of disinfectant -- as well as protective equipment including protective caps, goggles and thermometers -- to sanitation workers and cleaning personnel.

Relevant departments have also arranged garbage collection, transportation and disposal, cleaning and disinfection work in public areas to prevent secondary pollution there.

According to local officials, eight of Inner Mongolia's 12 leagues and cities, including Ordos, have started centralized collection and disposal of hazardous wastes such as masks and gloves.

They said that Hohhot, Hinggan League, Tongliao and Hulunbuir have started to dispose their wastes according to the highest standards of medical waste treatment.

Furthermore, Inner Mongolia has also demanded property service companies strengthen their coronavirus prevention and control measures in cooperation with their communities.
