The launch ceremony for the ongoing “Enjoy Ordos” grassland music and food season took place in the Dongsheng district of Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Aug 1, according to local officials.

Sponsored by the Ordos publicity department and the Ordos municipal culture and tourism bureau, the event is focusing on the three themes of listening to Ordos music, tasting Ordos food and promoting Ordos products.

The organizers said that around 30 activities in 12 categories will be held during the ongoing event, which runs to mid-October.

Among them will be singing, dancing and other performances, book and food exhibitions, a local specialties fair, as well as an exhibition and online promotion of handicrafts.

Officials said the series of activities will help boost spending by consumers and reactivate the cultural tourism market in Ordos city.
