Kangbashi forum discusses financial, economic development

The 2020 Kangbashi Financial and Economic Forum which was held on Sept 12 in Kangbashi district – in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region – addressed important questions and put forward innovative ideas.

The forum was attended by around 350 government officials, academics, experts and business representatives who conducted in-depth and extensive exchanges and held discussions on the event’s theme of the "New Era, New Economy, New Trend and New Finance".

Li Dong, head of Kangbashi district, told the conference in a speech that China had entered a period when the country's financial reforms and innovations were developing in depth.

Li said financial institutions were accelerating their transformation, financial markets were becoming more segmented, and the digital economy and internet finance had also spawned many new business formats and models.

Kangbashi will firmly grasp the development opportunities with more innovative ideas, a more open attitude and better services – to provide a better environment for financial institutions and investment enterprises, Li added.

In addition to guest speeches and talks, a nameplate unveiling ceremony for the new Ordos work base for financial talent was held during the forum.

Officials said it will give full play to the advantages of Kangbashi's environmental resources and cultural and tourism facilities. They said it would carry out activities such as developing capital markets, training skilled financial people, developing investor education and attracting the financial industry to locate there.
