Ordos generates $111.6m in tourism revenue over National Day holiday

Tourists made 1.69 million trips to Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region over the eight-day combined holiday for National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. According to a report in Ordos Daily, revenue generated by tourism reached 749 million yuan ($111.60 million).
Dongsheng district, Dalad Banner and Jungar Banner were among the top three spots in the city to receive tourists.
Popular scenic spots such as Genghis Khan's Mausoleum, Resonant Sand Bay and Ordos Wild Zoo received 35,000, 57,590 and 404,400 tourists, respectively.
Tourists visiting Ordos were mainly from Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing and Ningxia Hui autonomous region, along with people from Baotou, Hohhot and Bayannuur cities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

To attract and stimulate consumption, various scenic spots in Ordos city introduced preferential measures such as ticket discounts, free access to scenic spots and free performances.
At Genghis Khan's Mausoleum, for example, tourists born on Oct 1 could enjoy free tickets, while Ordos residents received a 50 percent discount on tickets. All tourists who purchased tickets were granted free access to the scenic area’s Ordos wedding ceremony performances and equestrian shows.
A batch of new cultural themed products was also launched during the holiday to meet the needs of tourists and citizens for cultural tourism experiences with ethnic and regional characteristics.
