A total of 8,216 people in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region had received the first injection of the coronavirus vaccine as of Jan 8, according to a report from Ordos Daily.

The person to receive the city’s first vaccination was jabbed at the Juungar Banner Central Hospital on Dec 28, 2020.

The groups receiving the vaccine include people handling cold chain imported food, workers at quarantine venues, front-line healthcare workers and epidemic control personnel, and people going abroad to study.

With the arrival of the winter months, and the associated temperature drop, the epidemic prevention and control situation in some areas in China is becoming more severe.

All parts of Ordos have tightened measures to respond to the current epidemic situation.

In addition to releasing vaccinations, Ordos has continued to conduct nucleic acid tests on key populations, environmental samples, cold chain foods, and products' outer packaging.

In 2020, Ordos tested nearly 50,000 nucleic acid samples and inspected various cold chain food products' purchase and sales channels. The city also halted the sale of products if procedures were incomplete or there were no inspection reports or nucleic acid test reports.
