The wildlife protection work in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has achieved remarkable results through establishing a long-term wildlife protection mechanism.
In 2020, the Ordos Forest Public Security Bureau organized and carried out special operations in the city, including cracking down on crimes such as the destruction of wildlife resources and the illegal wildlife trade. The measures also called for protecting migratory birds in spring and autumn and the implementation of "Kunlun 2020."
The "Kunlun 2020" special operation saw Ordos' forestry public security organs strengthen police cooperation with forestry police in neighboring areas and establish a cross-regional police cooperation mechanism to better combat wildlife crimes.

During the bird migration periods in spring and autumn, public security organs posted more than 200 migratory bird protection slogans and warning signs at prominent locations along migration channels and foraging and breeding areas. Authorities also built an 8-kilometer-long migratory bird protection publicity area in Shulinzhao town.
Meanwhile, Ordos issued an important document called the "Notice on Jointly Launching Special Law Enforcement Actions to Combat the Illegal Wild Animal Trade."
In the past year, the city's forestry public security organs investigated and dealt with 40 criminal wildlife cases and 39 administrative cases. A total of 1,119 wild animals and seven pieces of hunting gear were confiscated.
