During this year's Spring Festival holiday, which lasted from Feb 11 to 17, scenic spots in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region played host to 377,000 visits under strict pandemic prevention and control measures. These attractions generated 123 million yuan ($18.45 million) in tourism revenue.

Also, the number of overnight tourists in Ordos reached 84,300.

The city’s six A-level scenic spots, including Genghis Khan's Mausoleum, Ordos Wild Zoo, Kangbashi Lake Area and Kangzhen Ancient Town, received a total of 151,600 tourists over the seven-day holiday and 3.44 million yuan in revenue.

Big data from Ordos’ culture and tourism department shows that the primary tourist sources outside of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region were Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, as well as Beijing and Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The main tourist sources in Inner Mongolia were Baotou, Hohhot and Bayannuur cities.

Ordos' Dalad Banner, Juungar Banner and Dongsheng district were the top three for receiving tourists.

To stimulate holiday spending, as of Feb 17, Ordos had issued a total of 1.8 million yuan in cultural and tourism benefits to residents and tourists and organized 308 activities.

The bureaus for culture and tourism at the municipal and district levels sent supervision and inspection teams during the holiday to scrutinize the safety, pandemic prevention measures and market order at its scenic spots, cultural sites and service providers.

Hidden dangers concerning tourism operation and pandemic prevention and control were identified and handled.

No cultural and tourism safety incidents or major tourism complaints were reported in the city.
