Ordos Mayor Li Li presented the government report at the fourth session of the fourth Ordos Municipal People's Congress on March 3.

The report highlighted a series of policies involving people's livelihoods that the city will implement in 2021.

Employment

Ordos plans to provide more than 20,000 new job opportunities for urban residents and those living in towns.

Transportation

Ordos will accelerate preparations for the construction of Baotou-Ordos High-speed Railway and the Hohhot-Ordos Intercity Railway, and start constructing the Ordos-Yunlin High-speed Railway and railways connecting the city's Otog Front Banner to Shanghaimiao.

The highway connecting Narisong to Kongkou and roads linking Tianmanliang to Yujiahao and Gongqiriga to Ulan town will also begin construction.

General airports in the city's Otog Banner and Uxin Banner are scheduled to start construction.

Environmental improvement

Ordos will accelerate the comprehensive water treatment of Hongjian Lake and Wuding River.

Consumption

Ordos will support the development of online and offline integrated consumption such as e-commerce and shopping livestreaming activities and develop consumption models such as the nighttime economy, holiday economy and green consumption.

Education

Ordos plans to construct and renovate 35 kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools and compile the "Ordos Vocational Education Reform and Development Plan."

Agriculture and animal husbandry

High-standard farmlands at 328,000 mu (21,866.67 hectares) will be constructed, and four agricultural and animal husbandry industrial parks will be built.

Residential

A total of 72 old communities and 1,299 shantytowns will be renovated.
