Dongsheng district in Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has made remarkable achievements in the construction of green coal mines.

Currently, among the 29 coal mines in normal production and operation in Dongsheng district, four coal mines have been rated as national-level green mines and 17 coal mines are autonomous region-level green mines.

In recent years, adhering to the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," Dongsheng district has prioritized the environment and accelerated its moves towards high-quality green development.

Actions on mine reclamation and greening have been taken. They include planting trees and grass, purifying water, cleaning coal ash and sprinkling water to suppress airborne dust particles.

To date, coal mining areas covering 5,380 hectares in Dongsheng district have been improved, accounting for 80 percent of the total coal areas.

In addition to reclaiming areas previously used for coal mining, Dongsheng district has adopted intelligent and electricity-driven equipment during the coal mining processes.

This new equipment reduces the number of people working underground, improves mining safety and efficiency, and reduces energy consumption.

Currently, Dongsheng district has deployed four charging stations and 26 charging piles in its mining area and put 35 electric heavy trucks and electric loaders into use.
