Ordos offers year-round tourism recommendations

Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently released lists of featured activities for different seasons to boost the integrated development of culture and tourism.

See below for a breakdown of fun seasonal activities that can be enjoyed in Ordos.

In spring

Flower viewing, hiking and off-roading are among the best activities to do in Ordos city during the spring.

From April to May, apricot blossoms, peonies, tulips and other flowers bloom one after another.

During this period, Ordos will hold the 6th Rural Tourism Apricot Flower Activity and the 10th Peony Cultural Tourism Activity, along with promotional activities for 5.18 International Museum Day and spring flower events at Qixing Lake.

In summer

The must-do activities in summer in Ordos include leisure vacations, self-driving tours and healthcare tourism.

From June to September, Ordos will host the second "Enjoy Ordos" grassland music and food activity, the first Uxin Banner Malanhua Cultural Tourism Event, the Whistling Dune Bay Chinese Electronic Syllable Festival, the 37th Genghis Khan Car Racing Event, the Yellow River Cultural Tourism Product Expo, the 9th "Dashatou Cup" Desert Cross-country Challenge and the 14th Ordos Mongolian Folk Customs Activities.

Meanwhile, in July, Ordos will play host to culture and tourism activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

In August, the second Ordos Grassland Silk Road Cultural Tourism Festival will take place, involving on-site exchange meetings on culture and tourism consumption in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, as well as Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces.

In autumn

Ordos will launch rural leisure tourism products in autumn to help implement the city's rural revitalization strategy.

From November to December, Ordos will host the seventh Beautiful Rural Cultural Tourism Activities, the fourth Ordos Farmers and Herdsmen Art Performances, the third Ordos Square Dance Competition and a series of exhibitions for paintings and calligraphy, clothing and travel photos.

In winter

Ordos becomes a wonderland when winter arrives, featuring rich ice and snow activities and local customs experiences.

Among the top activities: the sixth Ordos New Year Culture Festival, the 11th Ordos Ice and Snow Cultural Tourism Festival and the Yellow River Winter Catching Festival.

Meanwhile, from November to February the following year, Ordos will adopt more new-energy lights to illuminate the city at night, boosting the development of the nighttime economy.
