118 investment projects start construction in Ordos

A total of 118 projects in Ordos city -- located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- recently started construction.

The projects cover such fields as modern energy equipment manufacturing, the modern coal chemicals industry, new energy, new materials and clean coal power.

Featuring among the main projects is an intelligent mining equipment project, as well as new energy projects.

The total investment of the slew of projects involves 81.7 billion yuan ($17.70 billion).

In the current year, Ordos reportedly plans to undertake 453 key projects, each costing more than 100 million yuan.

The total investment is estimated at 551.1 billion yuan, 76.2 billion yuan of which will be in place by the end of the current year.

By the end of June, around 184 projects are scheduled to start or resume construction, with a construction rate of 80 percent.

To date, a total of 304 key projects have started construction, with a project construction and resumption rate of 67 percent.

The Yuanjing new energy demonstration project in the city's Ejin Horoo Banner is a typical example of those projects that are starting construction.

The project is being implemented in three phases, with a total investment of 6.18 billion yuan and covering an area of about 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares). 

A green smart energy equipment industrial park will be built, with the construction of a 20 gigawatt-hour energy storage and power battery plant.
