The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region made a list of Demonstration Cities for Green Freight Distribution.
The list was recently jointly released by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Commerce.
In accordance with the deployment arrangements of the "Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Issuing the Three-Year Action Plan for Promoting Transport Structure Adjustment (2018-2020)", the aforementioned three ministries have organized and carried out construction work for the Demonstration City of Green Freight Distribution since 2018.
In addition to Ordos, another 15 cities across the country made the national list, including Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Suzhou, Xiamen, Xiangyang, Changsha, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.
The urban green freight distribution demonstration project is meant to support the implementation of the national new urbanization strategy.
It is meant to contribute to the prevention and control of air pollution and the alleviation of urban traffic congestion, and is an effective way to reduce logistics costs, improve efficiency, and solve urban distribution difficulties.
The demonstration project will optimize the urban distribution vehicle convenience policy, promote the application of new-energy urban distribution vehicles, and connect intercity trunk line transportation and urban end-of-city distribution to form an intensive and efficient urban freight distribution organization chain, which is expected to improve circulation efficiency and promote energy conservation and emissions reduction.
