Juungar Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is accelerating the development of featured industries to boost rural revitalization.

In recent years, 159 villages under the banner's jurisdiction have steadily promoted four dominant industries: forestry products, green fruits and vegetables, miscellaneous grains, and goat breeding.

The whole banner's forestry product-growing area is currently 29,000 mu (1,933.33 hectares), its fruit and vegetable-growing area is 12,000 mu, and its crop-growing area is 65,000 mu.

Meanwhile, 300,000 cashmere goats are bred in the banner.

The number of enterprises in the banner involved in planting, breeding, processing, and distribution is now 37, directly providing job opportunities for more than 30,000 rural households.

They also seasonally employ more than 2,000 rural laborers, generating an average income increase of more than 3,500 yuan ($526.32) per person.

Hou Wanli from Xibula village of Juungar Banner has benefited from the banner's rural revitalization development strategies.

He was among the first group of villagers to grow fruits and vegetables in greenhouses. Now his family has eight greenhouses, which mainly grow cantaloupes, watermelons, and beans.

"The five muskmelons I planted this year yielded more than 5,000 kg, and they were mainly sold to door-to-door buyers," Hou said.

"My eight greenhouses can generate more than 100,000 yuan a year." Hou added.
