The Ordos branch of the China High-resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS) unveiled its nameplate at the Ordos meteorological administration in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Aug 23.
CHEOS is a major national science and technology project.
In order to improve the comprehensive capabilities of China's earth observation system, the Chinese government approved the implementation of CHEOS in 2010.
CHEOS was completely activated in 2020, and consists of a space-based system, a near space and airborne system, a ground system, and an application system.
Opening a CHEOS branch and promoting the application of CHEOS technology have important practical significance for Ordos in promoting the modernization of governance capabilities, strengthening ecological protection, promoting green development, and strengthening emergency management.
The Ordos branch is now operating at full capacity.
Before the unveiling ceremony, Du Huiliang, acting mayor of Ordos, listened to the report on the preliminary preparations and business operation of the CHEOS Ordos branch and visited the weather forecast and early warning business service platform of the Ordos meteorological bureau.
