Chinese javelin player Sun Pengxiang broke his own world record by winning the men's javelin throw F41 with 47.13 meters at the Tokyo Paralympics on Sept 4.

Sun broke the world record with a score of 45.82 meters on his first shot, and broke it again with a score of 47.13 meters on his fifth shot, winning gold.

The 30-year-old Sun hails from Dongsheng district in the city of Ordos in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

He is only 137 cm tall due to congenital growth and development, but has much athletic talent.

In 2011, Sun entered the Ordos disabled persons’ track and field training center. After receiving professional training, he began taking part in major competitions.

At the Rio Paralympic Games five years ago, he won the bronze medal in javelin.

At the 10th National Paralympic Games, Sun won gold in javelin and silver in shot put.

In 2019, Sun won gold in javelin and broke the world record at the World Para Athletics Championships held in the United Arab Emirates.

After returning from Tokyo, he will prepare for the 11th National Paralympic Games to be held in Shaanxi province in October.
