The green development model for the Kangbashi district of Ordos city – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – featured at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in Glasgow in the United Kingdom on Nov 1-12.

At the conference, global leaders and representatives of various organizations and other parties discussed how to ensure global net zero emissions were achieved by the middle of the century and they also focused on how to build a resilient global ecosystem.

A video about Kangbashi's concept of green transformation and development was shown as an example of what can be done during the "Climate Communication Theme Film Festival".

In recent years, Kangbashi district has implemented four measures – to reduce industrial carbon emissions, emissions from infrastructure construction, on carbon reductions and on cultivating a carbon-reduced economy – in response to China's commitment to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

Reports are that it has advanced the energy-saving renovation of existing buildings and the application of renewable energy building materials – while vigorously developing low-carbon green industries such as cultural tourism.

In addition, it is also understood to be relying on a self-developed community intelligent services platform to issue carbon credits to residents for green travel, water and electricity saving, advocating a green and low-carbon lifestyle.
