The Juungar Banner, administered by the city of Ordos – in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – plans to speed up the transformation and upgrading of its traditional coal mining industry and advance the development of its new energy industry.
The banner is said to be rich in coal, wind energy and solar energy and has developed an efficient transport network, a proficient business environment and high-performing power transmission channels. These are reportedly providing a solid foundation for the rapid development of the new energy industry in the banner.
Under the plan, within the next five years, it will use its coal mining subsidence areas, open-pit mine reclamation areas, deserts and other arid land to comprehensively develop new energy power generation projects and integrate new energy developments with mine and desert treatment.
At present, Juungar Banner has put plans in place for 11.54 million kilowatts of new energy projects, of which 655,000 kWh of new energy projects have been approved.
The large-scale wind power photovoltaic base project planned and constructed in the banner's northern desert area has completed preliminary procedures and construction is expected to be organized after gaining formal approval.
Meanwhile, the region plans to draw down some 10 percent of its mine geological environment treatment and restoration fund to buy new energy vehicles and establish an operating company to be responsible for the sales and leasing of new energy vehicles.
In the next three years, the banner plans to replace 5,000 traditional fuel vehicles on mining roads with new energy vehicles.
Plans are also set in motion to speed up the construction of new energy heavy truck support facilities including charging and service stations.
