Plans were recently unveiled for a new hydrogen energy technology innovation industry chain – to be funded by Canada Enerstar Corporation – to locate in the Dongsheng district of Ordos city, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

A project signing ceremony between the Canadian company and another seven Chinese companies was held on Dec 15 in Dongsheng.

Hydrogen is a much cleaner energy than coal and other fossil fuels and is widely seen as being a big thing for the future of the energy industry in the decades to come – with China making major efforts to open up its exploitation.

Under the agreements, the companies will work together to make up for the current shortcomings of Dongsheng's hydrogen energy industry. That’s in terms of industrial planning and development, technology and equipment research and development, large-scale production of hydrogen energy and technology innovation and energy consumption.

The settlement of the hydrogen energy project is regarded as being of great importance to Dongsheng, in order to follow the path of environmental protection.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Dongsheng is projected to promote the clustering and high-end development of the equipment manufacturing industry and accelerate the establishment of new energy automobile industry clusters and applications scenarios.

The city will aim to gradually form a new pattern of energy economic development, based on the development and utilization of clean energy.
