The city of Ordos – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – is understood to have introduced a series of measures last year to build itself up as a metropolis with a resilient and dynamic business environment and with far greater efficiency in its government services.

In the wake of the initiative, in 2021, a total of 16,000 government service items – offered by Ordos' 35 municipal-level departments and 328 departments at the district and banner level – are able to be handled through the Inner Mongolia Government Affairs Service Website.

Of these, some 13,000 can now be handled online for the entire process.

To reduce the administrative approval time, 8,429 items can now be dealt with at one comprehensive service counter. The average daily processing volume has as a result increased by 68.2 percent compared with that before the revamp, with the on-time processing rate now at 100 percent.

Focusing on the matters of most concern and those most commonly used by residents and businesses, the region's new Mengsuban app has reportedly brought together four commonly used functions for health codes, bus codes, medical insurance codes and payment codes.

It is understood to support the application of eight types of common licenses such as a residents' social security card, driver's license and birth certificate.

Meanwhile, 275 featured apps – for such things as government service maps, AI government service consultations, water, electricity, heating and convenience payments – are nowadays connected to the Mengsuban app.

In addition, some 7,035 individual items in the fields of transportation, civil affairs and medical care can be handled through mobile apps, with 5,315 government service items exempt from submitting paper materials and certificates.
