The mascot for the Beijing Winter Olympics, Bing Dwen Dwen, has enjoyed an ever-increasing rise in popularity and is these days said to be in big demand throughout China.

The question "do you have a Bing Dwen Dwen?" is now even a form of greeting.

To get their own Bing Dwen Dwen and raise a cheer for Chinese Olympic athletes, a herdsmen's family from Uxin Banner -- administered by the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- made their own version of the mascot using ice and snow on Feb 8.

Snow sweeping, snow making and modeling, the family members worked hard together and completed the snow-made Bing Dwen Dwen in just two hours or so.

The mascot's widespread popularity stems mainly from its naive and cute appearance. Its shape combines the image of a panda with an ice crystal shell, inspired by the "ice ribbon" exterior lighting of the National Speed Skating Oval. The flowing color lines symbolize a winter sports track. The design, full of modernity and technology, is said to convey the charms and beauty of China and expresses the universal appeal of the Olympic Games.
