The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region held a signing ceremony on April 27 to secure the national coal supply.

A total of eight coal companies and four banners and districts in the jurisdiction of Ordos signed medium and long-term coal supply contracts with eight provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country. The contractors include Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces.

It has been reported that an agreement for a total of 45.40 million metric tons of coal supply was signed to satisfy the country’s energy demands.

Ordos is one of 14 large-scale coal bases, one of nine coal power bases and four modern coal chemical industry demonstration areas set up by the country.

The city has proven coal reserves of 210.2 billion metric tons, accounting for about one sixth of the country’s total, and possesses proven natural gas reserves of nearly 5 trillion cubic meters, accounting for one third of the country’s total.
