Another two projects will settle in Dalad Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, following the signing of agreements between the banner and Jiangsu Hengtong Light Guide New Material Co and Jiangsu Hengxin Quartz Technology Co on May 31.

It has been reported that the contracted high-end optical new materials and new energy project will receive an investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($225.06 million).

It is expected to generate an annual output value of 840 million yuan and generate 270 million yuan in annual profits and taxes. The products of the project are mainly used to manufacture special optical fiber preforms in the optical communication industry.

Optical fiber preforms are essential to the production of optical cables.

Most domestic optical cable manufacturers currently rely on buying imported optical fibers or optical fiber preforms to produce optical cables.

The other advanced high-purity quartz and new materials project will receive an investment of 500 million yuan. 

It is expected to achieve an output value of 400 million yuan, with 50 million yuan in annual profits and taxes.

High-purity quartz is an important raw material for the preparation of information display glass, which is mainly used in the manufacture of smart phones, ultra-thin touch screen glass, and high-strength cover glass.
