The city of Ordos -- located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- was recently identified in the China Investment Hotspot Cities report, for the competitive advantages of its industries and for having great overall investment potential.

As a result, it was one of the metropolises admitted to the list of China Investment Hotspot Cities.

The honor was announced on Sept 8 during the 22nd China International Fair for Investment and Trade, held in the city of Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province.

The report was compiled and released by Zhang Lijun, regional economic and financial leader of leading financial services provider Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) China.

It showcased a city's image, investment environment and potential business opportunities at multiple levels -- helping the city to build up its brand, realize industry-targeted investment promotions and serve as a model for other cities, industries and talent.

The report pointed out that Ordos has abundant resources -- including cashmere, coal, natural gas, coalbed methane and shale gas -- and has made breakthroughs in its industrial transformation and upgrading, green and low-carbon development, as well as scientific and technological innovation.

Moreover, Ordos is participating in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and in the new round of West China Development strategies.

Ordos reportedly has multiple and interlinking development opportunities and has many favorable conditions. These are expected to help promote high-quality growth shaped by ecological priorities and green development.
