A total of three banners in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently made them onto the list of China's top 100 counties for county-level economic and social comprehensive development.

The Ejin Horoo Banner ranked 47th, the Juungar Banner ranked 50th, and the Otog Banner ranked 93rd.

The list was released in the 22nd County Economy and County Development Monitoring and Evaluation Report, which was officially issued by the China County Economy Research Institute on Dec 16.

The institute was established in 1998. Its evaluation of the basic competitiveness and scientific development of a county's economy provides a relative reference for all counties across the country, and creates a precedent for the county economic evaluation in the country.

The newly-launched report includes the 20 years of great changes in county economy development. It provides evaluation of the basic competitiveness of a county's economy, evaluation of the basic index of a county's modernization development quality, evaluation of a county's comprehensive social development index, and lastly, monitoring and evaluation of county development in central and western regions.

The report shows that between 2002 and 2022, the development of county-level economy in China has achieved remarkable results.

Ordos has gone through four stages of "strengthening the county economy", "scientific development of the county economy", "creating an upgraded version of the county economy" and "high-quality development of the county economy". As a result of this, it has come to a new stage of comprehensive modernization.
