The Uxin 500 kV power transmission and transformation project officially started power transmission on Dec 16, playing an essential role in boosting local power supply.
The project is located in Uxin Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The total investment of the project is 970 million yuan ($138.37 million), which is divided into two parts: a 500-kV substation project and a 500-kV line project.
A total of 764 new iron towers were built, and the total length of the newly-built transmission line exceeds 322 kilometers.
According to Xu Kaifeng, deputy director of the construction department of the Inner Mongolia Electric Power Group Co, after the completion of the project, the power supply capacity of the Uxin area has increased from the existing 670,000 kW to 1.75 million kW. It can provide reliable power supply for the southern Ordos area, especially the Uxin area.
Over the last few years, major projects in Uxin Banner have progressed rapidly, and the regional demand for electricity has risen steadily.
The limitation of Uxin's electricity supply had become increasingly prominent. Especially since 2015, when large-scale coal chemical industry projects in the banner expanded and the supply-and-demand gap continued to increase.
The completion of the Uxin 500 kV power transmission and transformation project has improved the reliability of power supply in the banner, as well as optimized the structure of the Ordos power grid.
It also provided strong power support for the production of industrial and mining enterprises and agricultural irrigation, which guarantees regional economic and social development.
