In 2022, the agricultural, animal husbandry, forestry and fishery sectors in Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region developed steadily, achieving a total output value of 31.12 billion yuan ($4.64 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent.

Of that total, the agricultural output value last year reached 16.56 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.7 percent.

In 2022, the city's grain sown area was 332,000 hectares, an increase of 7,100 hectares or 2.2 percent over 2021 figures.

The total grain output came in at 2.11 million metric tons, an increase of 95,000 tons from 2021; and the grain output per unit area was 4,341 kg per hectare, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the total output value of animal husbandry in the city reached 12.58 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percent.

The total number of livestock in the city was 12.22 million heads, an increase of 880,000 over the previous year, or a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent. Of the livestock, 11.09 million were sheep and 590,000 were cattle.

Additionally, in 2022, the city's forestry output value came in at 960 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent, while its fishery output value was 280 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent.

As the city's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and service industries developed throughout the year, structural adjustments were also constantly optimized.

In 2022, the agricultural output value accounted for 53.2 percent of the city's output value, a decrease of 4 percentage points from the previous year, but still occupying a dominant position.

However, the proportion of animal husbandry increased by 3.7 percent from the previous year, now accounting for 40.4 percent of the total output value.
